If you have made the mistake of starting some work to your property without obtaining permission and it has back fired on you, don’t worry, Planning Direct is here to help.
The team at Planning Direct is often helping individuals who need to apply for retrospective planning permission because they have started work without permission and have been reported to the Enforcement Team at their Local Council.
In this instance, our client, Mr Biazzo had his Retrospective Application turned down, and approached us to Appeal the Decision on his behalf. Fortunately for Mr Biazzo, here at Planning Direct we have much experience in this field.
Mr Biazzo wanted to install metal gates and a high brick wall with fencing along two sides of his property. His application had been refused by Crawley Borough Council back in November 2017. The Council claimed his proposal would have an adverse impact on the appearance of his house, and would be detrimental to the existing visual amenities and the open landscaped character of the property. The officer also claimed it would have a negative impact on the neighbouring properties.
It is not uncommon for a Council to turn down an application on grounds such as these. Many people still aren’t aware it’s free to submit an Appeal to the Planning Inspectorate. In addition most people are surprised by how little Planning Direct charge for consultancy. Appealing a decision may well cost less than you expect.
In this incidence, the Planning Consultant at Planning Direct was able to demonstrate that the Borough Council’s decision was not in keeping with National and Local Planning Policy. The decision was consequently overturned by the Planning Inspectorate. Great news for Mr Biazzo who had this to say
“We are so very pleased of the outcome of our appeal and we would like to thank you so much for all your help and an outstanding job. The appeal was dealt with brilliantly and worded very effectively. We will start the works to finish the driveway in a few weeks as we originally planned”.
